Bill Michael

Bill Michael joined the FNZ Group Board in September 2026. He is a senior financial services leader with over three decades of experience across audit, financial reporting, banking regulation, and corporate governance. He spent 33 years at KPMG, culminating as elected Chair & CEO of KPMG UK, where he led a significant turnaround in both financial performance and regulatory standing during a challenging period for the profession.
During his time at KPMG, he served as Head of Financial Services Audit, led a number of high-profile regulatory and sector reviews, and held the role of Global Head of Banking & Capital Markets. He acted as Global Lead Partner for a number of the world's largest and most complex financial institutions, was the sole professional services adviser to the Treasury Select Committee on the Future of Financial Services, and served as a representative on the Bank of England's Fair & Effective Markets Review.
Throughout his career he worked directly with regulators including the FRC, PCAOB, Bank of England, PRA, FCA, and HMT, and held positions on a range of high-level government and industry bodies.
Since leaving KPMG in 2021, Bill has focused on board-level governance and executive advisory work. He is currently CEO of a de novo bank within the Capital.com Group, leading its PRA/FCA authorisation as the group expands into regulated deposit-taking and secured lending. He also serves as a Non-Executive Director of Elixirr PLC, a FTSE-listed global consultancy.
Bill is a Chartered Accountant with both the Australian Institute and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, and holds a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University.
