Her story highlights the power of supportive leadership, continuous development, and the opportunities that can emerge throughout different stages of a career. In this edition of #InsideFNZ, Priya reflects on the experiences that have shaped her growth both as a leader and as a working parent.

Returning from maternity leave can be a significant transition. What was your experience like?

My return from maternity leave was a positive experience overall. While balancing work and personal responsibilities again took some adjustment, the support from my manager and colleagues made the transition much smoother.

The flexibility provided during the initial period helped me regain confidence and settle back into my role. It was also encouraging to reconnect with the team, take on responsibilities again, and contribute meaningfully to the business.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my return was being promoted shortly after coming back from maternity leave. It reinforced that FNZ values performance, contribution, and potential, regardless of time taken for maternity leave.

The promotion demonstrated that taking maternity leave does not limit career growth and that the organization genuinely supports employees through different stages of life while continuing to recognize and reward their achievements.

How has FNZ supported your growth as a leader?

FNZ has played a significant role in my growth as a leader by providing opportunities to take ownership of key processes, lead teams through change, and contribute to business-critical initiatives.

A particularly important milestone in my leadership journey was being entrusted with managing teams across both India and Toronto. This opportunity allowed me to lead individuals from different cultural backgrounds, perspectives, and working styles, which broadened my understanding of people management and helped me become a more adaptable and inclusive leader.

Managing geographically diverse teams has strengthened my communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills while helping me grow both professionally and personally.

What advice would you give to other women looking to build a long-term career in technology and financial services?

Stay curious, keep learning, and never underestimate your potential.

Technology and financial services are evolving rapidly, creating new opportunities for those willing to embrace change and continuously develop new skills. Don't be afraid to take on challenging assignments, step outside your comfort zone, and seek opportunities that help you grow.

I also encourage people to ask questions and challenge processes when something doesn't seem right or could be improved. Some of the best ideas and innovations come from individuals who are willing to look at existing ways of working and think about how they can be made better.

Just as importantly, build a strong support network of mentors, peers, and leaders who can guide and encourage you throughout your career.

What has been the most rewarding part of your FNZ journey so far?

One of the most rewarding aspects has been the opportunity to grow alongside the organization while taking on new challenges and responsibilities.

Leading diverse teams across regions, supporting people through change, and helping colleagues develop their own skills and careers has been especially fulfilling.

Knowing that my contribution is valued and that career progression remains possible through different stages of life has given me the confidence to continue growing as a leader and supporting others on their own journeys.

Outside of work, what are your passions and interests?

Outside of work, I am passionate about spending quality time with my two children and being actively involved in their growth and development.

I also enjoy reading, travelling, listening to music, and continuously learning new things. One of my favorite ways to unwind is by listening to music and singing along to my playlists.

Another passion of mine is maintaining my physical and mental wellbeing through yoga and meditation. While balancing work, family, and other responsibilities can make it challenging to practice regularly, I always make an effort to stay consistent and keep showing up.

For me, maintaining a healthy balance between career, family, and personal interests is what keeps me motivated, energized, and continuously growing.

Priya's story is a reminder that career growth doesn't have to pause during life's biggest milestones. Through curiosity, resilience, and a commitment to continuous learning, she has built a rewarding career while balancing leadership responsibilities, family life, and personal wellbeing.
