FNZ, the leading global wealth management platform, today shared regional analysis showing that Asia Pacific has emerged as the most mature region for AI adoption in wealth and asset management. Based on research conducted with ThoughtLab among 500 investment firms globally, including 155 across Asia Pacific, the analysis highlights how firms across the region are moving beyond experimentation and preparing to deploy AI at scale.
Country-level analysis shows that Singapore, China/Hong Kong, Malaysia and Japan all ranked above the global average for AI maturity. These markets are helping drive APAC’s regional advantage, with leading firms investing in leadership alignment, organizational readiness, governance, workforce transformation and long-term strategic planning.
The findings are explored in The AI-Powered Investment Firm: Asia Edition, which examines the factors distinguishing the region’s AI leaders and the practical foundations required to translate adoption into measurable business outcomes.
Among AI leaders in Asia Pacific:
86% are ensuring their data, technology infrastructure, workflows and employees are AI-ready, compared with 77% globally.
65% are developing and communicating a top-down AI vision, compared with 59% globally.
70% are defining and monitoring risks associated with emerging AI technologies, compared with 57% globally.
65% have implemented AI testing and auditing processes, compared with 58% globally.
68% report that AI is creating greater shareholder value, compared with 55% globally.
The analysis suggests that APAC’s leading firms are treating AI as a broader business transformation priority, rather than as a standalone technology initiative. They are aligning leadership around a common vision, modernizing data and technology foundations, preparing employees for new ways of working and establishing the governance needed to scale innovation responsibly.
Workforce transformation is a particular priority. While 76% of firms globally believe AI will require organizations to redefine existing roles, that figure rises to 84% in Asia Pacific. This indicates that firms across the region increasingly expect AI to reshape operating models, workforce structures, decision-making and value creation across the enterprise.
Sanjeev Chatrath, Managing Director, Asia, FNZ, said:
Asia’s AI advantage is becoming increasingly clear, with the APAC data showing the strongest momentum in markets such as Singapore, China/Hong Kong, Malaysia and Japan. Across the region, firms are combining fast-growing wealth markets, strong technology talent, digital-first operating models and a willingness to embrace new ways of working
"Singapore is a good example of how responsible innovation can be supported through practical governance and assurance initiatives, including the Model AI Governance Framework, AI Verify and the Model AI Governance Framework for Agentic AI. Together, these conditions are helping firms move from AI experimentation to enterprise-wide transformation."
The findings also point to continued growth in advanced AI capabilities. Among Asia Pacific’s AI leaders, adoption of Generative AI is expected to increase from 43% to 75% over the next three years, while adoption of Agentic AI is expected to double from 11% to 22%. Growth is also anticipated across machine learning, natural language processing and multimodal AI.
As these capabilities develop, firms expect AI to play a greater role across both client-facing and operational functions. Customer relationship management, data security and privacy are among the leading future applications identified by firms in the region, reflecting a growing focus on more personalized client experiences, stronger decision-making and increased organizational resilience.
The analysis indicates that access to AI technology alone will not determine long-term success. Firms that align leadership, strengthen governance, modernize their data and technology environments and prepare their workforces will be better positioned to move beyond isolated pilots and embed AI across the enterprise.
