Rt Hn Alex Salmond MSP, officially opened FNZ's new office and met with some of the company's graduate employees.
19 January – FNZ, the provider of integrated wealth management platforms, was joined today by Rt Hon Alex Salmond MSP, First Minister of Scotland, to officially open its new Headquarters at Tanfield, Edinburgh. The visit was also an opportunity for the First Minister of Scotland to meet with a number of young employees at the rapidly growing technology company that is successfully operating from Scotland.
FNZ has experienced significant growth since it moved to Scotland in 2005, seeing its assets under management increase by 40% and revenues increase by 61%, over the last calendar year alone. FNZ is now using this boom in business to create new jobs for UK graduates at its Edinburgh headquarters, at a time where many are struggling to find work.
Over 20 new graduates will be joining the company during Q1, in addition to the 213 new starts in Edinburgh alone since January 2010, and FNZ has strong aspirations to continue to grow its headcount across all of its UK offices throughout the year. This growth is not just limited to the UK however, and will be rolled out across all the company’s offices in Brno, Sydney and Wellington - as well as in London and Bristol.
Alex Salmond, First Minister of Scotland, said; “In just a decade, FNZ has grown from being a small team of software specialists based in New Zealand to a truly global business employing over 600 people around the world. They set up in Scotland in 2005 and these new premises will be their global headquarters.
"Their commitment to the employment and development of new graduates is very impressive. I am absolutely committed to making sure Scotland's young people can fulfil their potential, which is why we've given a guarantee of work, modern apprenticeship or education for every 16-19 year old. It is very encouraging to see a global organisation like FNZ display the same kind of commitment to our young people.
"But FNZ's presence here is testament not just to the strength of Scotland's pool of new software graduates but also to our strong IT skills base and burgeoning business and financial services sector in Edinburgh. I look forward to their further growth here in our capital city."
Christian Dougal, FNZ Director said; “Despite reports of the worst economic slowdown in decades, at FNZ we’re seeing tremendous growth. Recruiting from the large pool of highly talented graduates in the UK means we can support our client base with some of the brightest young people around, whilst helping them gain the skills and experience for a successful career in financial services. This is a hugely exciting time for FNZ and we anticipate that all our graduates and other hires will share in our continued success.
2011 was a fantastic year for FNZ and I’m delighted with the progress that we have made - both financially and as a business overall. Our strong financial figures achieved this year really validate the direction in which we’re leading the platform market. We’re looking forward to a very busy 2012, completing the roll-out of number of platforms we have in development and growing our presence in the Wealth Management space.”
