Developer, Edinburgh

I studied Computer Science at Heriot-Watt University and found out about FNZ from a friend of mine who worked here. I guess I was initially attracted by the variety of work on offer and the salary. But I must admit the thought of working with billions of pounds was pretty exciting too.

I work in Service & Support and have just completed a three month stint in our Brno office in the Czech Republic, which was cool. I really appreciate the working environment here and have met some very intelligent and interesting people from a range of far-flung places.

The support I receive is excellent. I have regular meetings with my team leader to establish if there’s anything I need to do, would like to learn or if I’d like to take my career in FNZ in a different direction. With offices across the globe, there are real opportunities to up sticks and start a new life in Czech Republic, Australia or New Zealand.

There’s a great atmosphere in the office - at the end of my first week, I was surprised to discover a cold bottle of beer on my desk. But this is a regular thing, every Friday at 4.00pm. It’s a great way to end the week.
