Developer, Wellington
I graduated from Victoria University of Wellington majoring in Comp-Sci, Statistics and Operations Research, and joined FNZ straight out of university. Since I have been working at FNZ, I have worked on a few projects, most noticeably the Public Trust Next Generation Platform rollout and a large-scale Direct to Customer (D2C) investment platform for a large Australian bank. On the Public Trust Next Generation Platform project I worked with the business team as well as the client to understand the clients' business model and various tax laws. I designed and implemented a system to cater for their core business needs for a financial portfolio with income beneficiaries. The D2C project is a technically challenging mammoth. I have been exposed to various new technologies such as .NET4, Entity Framework, WCF and Liferay 6 Portal.
There are many reasons why I would recommend FNZ to graduates. Firstly at FNZ, you are not treated as "babies", no one will make you "go do some testing" just because you are a graduate. Graduates are given the opportunity and guidance to develop their technical, business and even management skills. Secondly, you are around graduates of similar age/interest who can understand what "It's over 9000" means. Last but not least, we have foosball and table tennis tables to play casually for fun, improve your skills or even compete in company internal leagues/competitions.
